The Star Boarder

The landlady’s favorite. Her husband’s headache. A camera that catches everything.

Charlie enjoys special attention at his boarding house, much to the irritation of his landlady’s husband. But their mischievous young son has been secretly photographing the residents’ antics—and his evening picture show threatens to expose more than anyone bargained for.

Starring Charlie Chaplin, Minta Durfee and Edgar Kennedy, this playful silent short turns boarding-house flirtations into comic chaos. An eccentric tennis match, jealous misunderstandings and embarrassing snapshots keep the trouble rolling as Charlie discovers the risks of being the favourite guest.
