The Passion Of Joan Of Arc

Her faith is unshakable. Her judges are relentless.

Captured and placed on trial for heresy, Joan of Arc faces an intimidating tribunal determined to make her renounce her beliefs. Through relentless questioning and threats, the young woman struggles to remain true to her convictions as her fate hangs in the balance.

Drawing on the historical records of Joan’s trial, director Carl Theodor Dreyer creates an intensely personal portrait of courage, faith and persecution. Renée Falconetti’s extraordinary performance and the film’s striking close-ups make this silent classic a deeply moving cinematic experience.
