Kid Autorace at Venice

The race is on—but Charlie wants the spotlight.

At a children’s car race in Venice, California, a camera crew tries to capture the action. Charlie’s attention-seeking spectator has other ideas, repeatedly stepping into the shot and frustrating the filmmakers with his determination to be seen.

Filmed during a real racing event, this playful silent short introduced cinema audiences to Charlie Chaplin’s iconic Little Tramp. A simple battle over camera time becomes a memorable showcase of his mischievous physical comedy.
