Jonestown: Paradise Lost

What began as a promise of paradise ended in one of the deadliest tragedies in modern American history. Jonestown: Paradise Lost takes viewers inside the final days of Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple, revealing how a charismatic religious leader transformed a dream of community and equality into a nightmare of manipulation, fear, and unimaginable loss.

Deep in the jungles of Guyana, more than 900 followers have built what they believe will be a utopian society. But as Jones becomes increasingly paranoid and controlling, tensions rise and questions about life inside the isolated compound begin to surface. When U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan arrives to investigate allegations of abuse, a chain of events unfolds that will end in catastrophe.

Through chilling survivor interviews, eyewitness accounts, and powerful dramatic re-enactments, this gripping documentary reconstructs the final five days leading to November 18, 1978, when 918 people lost their lives.

A haunting examination of power, blind devotion, and the devastating consequences of unchecked influence, Jonestown: Paradise Lost reveals the human stories behind a tragedy that shocked the world.
