His New Profession

A simple job. A seaside stroll. What could possibly go wrong?

Hired to look after a young man’s uncle, Charlie is supposed to keep his wheelchair-using charge safe during an outing by the pier. But a tempting bar and a pretty woman soon distract him from his duties, turning an easy assignment into a string of narrow escapes and comic confrontations.

Written, directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin, this mischievous silent short mixes seaside slapstick, romantic rivalry and a caretaker who’s better at finding trouble than doing his job.
