Detour

One wrong turn. A stranger’s secret. A nightmare with no easy escape.

Hitchhiking to Los Angeles to reunite with his girlfriend, pianist Al Roberts accepts a ride that changes everything. When an unexpected death leaves him fearing arrest, he assumes another man’s identity—only to encounter Vera, a sharp-eyed drifter who turns his desperate decision into a dangerous trap.

Directed by Edgar G. Ulmer and starring Tom Neal and Ann Savage, Detour is a gripping film noir filled with blackmail, suspicion and mounting dread. This lean, atmospheric classic follows a man whose attempts to escape trouble draw him deeper into it.
