By The Sea

Sea air, stolen glances and trouble on the promenade.

Charlie’s seaside outing turns chaotic when a quarrel with another holidaymaker gives way to flirtations with married women and clashes with their jealous husbands. A relaxing day by the water quickly becomes a tangle of rivalries and slapstick mishaps.

Written, directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin, this breezy silent short brings his mischievous humour to the Southern California waterfront.
